Husband of Hannah Waldo; father to Benjamin, Abigail, Zechariah, Ezra, Daniel, Ephraim and Mehitable Cary. Son of Francis and Hannah Brett Carey. Ephraim Cary was Lieutenant in the Bridgewater Company, Mass. Militia in the French & Indian Wars, and was spoken of as 'Lieutenant' Cary. He lived and died on the farm which his father owned before him. In the old burying ground at East Bridgewater are the gravestones of Ephraim and Hannah Cary. Inscriptions read:

"Here lies buried Lt. Ephraim Cary (son of Francis), who died July 18, 1765, in the 86 year of his age.
