Margaret "Peggy" Hastings was born 28 July 1793 (g.s.) presumably at Orange County, NC, the daughter of John Hastings and Nancy Ann (presumably nee Holloway). She died at Bedford County, TN on 7 December 1875 (g.s.). As she died before the important 1880 census, one is unable to tenatively confirm where she would have said her father was born.

Margaret married John Ault at Knox County, TN on 22 November 1809 who was born 2 May 1787 (g.s.) and died at Bedford County on 8 August 1829 (g.s.). Margaret "Peggy" Hastings never remarried and at her death was the 36-year long widow Ault.

According to the 1985 revised edition of "Cemetery Records of Bedford County, Tennessee" by Helen C. and Timothy R. Marsh, two separate "Ault" cemeteries are located in Bedford County, TN. The first is indexed as cemetery #44, located about 1-1/2 mile west of Wartrace, TN, near where the old Mt. Hebron Church once stood. In particular, the two graves of interest are:

1. Here lies the body of John Ault, who departed the 8th day of August 1829. He expired in the triumphs of faith, aged: 42y, 3m, 6d.
2. Susan E. Ault, 22 March 1827 to 31 August 1848.

The second Ault cemetery is indexed as #26, located about one mile northwest of Phillipi Church. Four gravestones and two unmarked graves are there, being:

1. Margaret Ault, 28 July 1793 to 7 December 1875.
2. Mary Ault, 6 January 1811 to 22 July 1898.
3. Martha Ault, 14 September 1819 to 23 December 1877.
4. Esther Ault, 28 April 1822 to 12 April 1867.
5. Unmarked.
6. Unmarked.
