Of Waltham, passed away peacefully Sunday evening March 3rd, 2013 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston at the age of 64.

Born on June 8, 1948 in Boston, son of the late Francis J. Lyons and Mary E. (Finneran) Lyons, Gerry was raised in Stoughton and has been a Waltham resident for the past 25 years.

He was employed as a Telephone Repairman with Verizon for over 32 years.

Gerry proudly served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a true Patriot in every sense of the word and has devoted most of his life to promoting causes related to the Veteran Services. He was a Past Commander and Life-Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Aux. Post #2152 on Felton Street in Waltham, Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans D.A.V. Chapter #45, served on the Board of Directors for the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post #156 in Waltham, President of the Allied Veterans Council and was a Board Member of the Waltham Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1018.

In his spare time he was a huge sports fan of the New England Patriot's, Boston Red Sox and especially NASCAR as a big fan of Jeff Gordon. He enjoyed traveling with family & friends to Las Vegas and Connecticut.

He is survived by his soul-mate, best friend and beloved wife Janet L. (Thompson) Craske Lyons, his step-son Rick Craske of NH, his daughters Lori Berry and her husband Frank of NH, Jennifer Lyons of WA and Kathleen Lyons of Burlington, his siblings Mary Picard and her husband Dick of AZ, Katherine McKinnon and her husband Don of Raynham, Frank Lyons and his wife Heberta of Stoughton, and step-grandson Ricky Craske. In addition he is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Brother of the late Paul Lyons and Joanne Leif.

Relatives & Friends are respectfully invited to attend Funeral Services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St, WALTHAM on Saturday morning March 9th at 8:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Gerry's Life at Saint Mary's Church, 145 School St, Waltham at 9:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Mount Feake Cemetery. Visiting Hours will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday March 8th from 4 – 8 p.m. Parking attendants on duty.
