Carol Jean Anske was born on June 30, 1941 the daughter of Thurman Nanomantube and Thamer (DuPuis) Masquat at Horton, Kansas.

She grew up in the Falls City, Nebraska area and graduated from Falls City High School. She attended and graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University and then started working for the Internal Revenue Service as a quality assurance supervisor for 33 years.

For a number of years she volunteered and was on the board of directors of the Heart of America Indian Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Carol served on the Kansas City Indian Club and held a number of positions with the organization. She also served on the Kickapoo Tribal Council, was a former tribal chairperson, and worked as a CHR for the Kickapoo Health Center.

Carol died on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Sabetha Manor in Sabetha, Kansas at the age of 68.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thurman Nanomantube; her husband, Randolph Miller; a son, Terry Nanomantube.

She is survived by her mother, Thamar Masquat of Horton, Kansas; three sons, Robert Nanomantube of Horton, Kansas, Randolph Miller, Jr. of Tryon, Oklahoma and David Miller of Roosevelt, Utah; two daughters, Daleen Miller of Horton, Kansas and Tetra Miller of Roosevelt, Utah and 17 grandchildren.

A wake will be held Monday evening at the Kickapoo Community Building starting at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Kickapoo Community Building with interment taking place at Kennekuk Cemetery. The Dishon-Maple-Chaney Mortuary in Horton , Kansas is in charge of arrangements.
