Thomas Patrick Haughey, Jr., 72, of New Smyrna Beach died Sunday, March 9, 2008 at his home with his devoted wife by his side after a brief illness. Mr. Haughey moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1957 from Long Island, N.Y. Hew was involved in racing midget cars, and building/rebuilding Oppenhauser engines. Tom also enjoyed building wooden boats. He was a master with his hands. Tom was the owner and operator of Von's Machine Shop and Gulf Gas & Wrecker Service,Daytona Beach. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and boating. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 8 years, Patricia; (step)daughter, Lynn (Skip) Kumpf; stepsons, Michael and Jeffery Campbell; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild and two sisters, Janet Tenenbaum and Pauline Campbell. Tom was known for his sense of humor and fantastic imagination. He was a devoted friend to many. He will be missed by all.
