Mrs. Sallie A. Leatherwood, 79, of Route 5, Greenville died Saturday at 1 a.m. in a local hospital. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. today at Kavanaugh United Methodist Church with the Rev. William Slack and the Rev. David Carr officiating. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
She was born in Greenville on Aug. 6, 1900, the daughter of Louis H Wineinger and Mattie West Horne. She was married to the Rev. Joe E. Leatherwood on Aug. 30, 1923 in Greenville. Mrs. Leatherwood was a member of Kavanaugh United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Kavanaugh Memorial Fund.
Surviving are her husband of Greenville; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Day Jr. of Greenville and Mrs. Harold L. Luper of Knoxville, Tenn.; six gradndchildren; and two great-grandchilden.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Serving as pallbearers will be D.A. Steele, Ernest Wineinger, A.L. Dick, Dewey Wineinger, Johnny Robinson and B.G. Turner.
Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
