John C. Bishop, Jr., 83, of Washington Crossing, Pa., passed away Monday in Buckingham Valley Nursing and Rehab Center in Newtown, Pa.
Born in Queens, N.Y., he was longtime Trenton area resident, and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Morrisville. Mr. Bishop retired in 2005 from E.P. Bishop Co. in Trenton, the company his mother established in 1946 and he joined in 1947. A member of the Professional Insurance Agency Association, they have served the Delaware Valley area for over 58 years.
A US Navy veteran of WWII, Mr. Bishop was an Aviation Machinist Mate Second Class, a member of the VP22 Squadron, and served in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a member of the VFW of Yardley, the Thunderbird Club, the Central Jersey Antique Club, the Experimental Aircraft Club, the Southwinds Yacht Club, the Ocean Gate Yacht Club, the National Rifle Association, and the Model T. Club, and was coach of the Pennsbury Rifle Club.
Son of the late Elizabeth P. (Hutchinson) Bishop, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Jane (Potent) Bishop; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert C. and Candace (Clunan) Bishop, and Jeffrey J. and Ann (Shorey) Bishop; a sister, Elma Wildblood, and George J. Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, N.J.
The Funeral Service will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Saul Colonial Home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, N.J.
