Ottilie was the daughter of August Engeklen and Elizabeth Muther. She married Friedrich (Fred) Bellmund (son of Heinrich (Henry) Friedrick August Bellmund and Philippine Luise Mathilde Sophie Baxmann). They immigrated to America in 1891. Together they had seven children: Otto Francis, Margaret Ottilie, Martha, Frieda, George, Rosa and Henry. The family resided in New York City.
