Betty Jo Harris, 65, of Exeter, died at 8:45 p.m. July 24 at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin following a long illness.
Mrs. Harris was born September 26, 1936, in Kansas City, the daughter of Elmer and Zilphia Caselman Morris. She worked seven years at The Herald House in Independence and was a homemaker. She moved to Exeter in 1994 and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Exeter.
She married Jimmie Harris on June 19, 1974, in Independence, and he survives.
Additional survivors include seven daughters, Jo Ann Reynolds of Macon, Jacqueline Wasson, Kay Clark, and Sandra Swearingen, all of Wheaton, Debra Purdum of Lawrence, Kansas, Michelle Himmerich of Stark City, and Tina Palmer of Monett; four brothers, Dal Gulley of Tucson, Arizona, LeRoy Morris of Oak Grove, and Joe Morris and Bill Morris of Independence; five sisters, Myrtle Martin of North Kansas City, Lucille Brown of Wheaton, Therese Oswald of Raytown, and Patricia Kioh and Marilyn Morrison, both of Independence; 27 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Elmer Morris; four sisters, Peggy Shisler, Mary Bragaw, Louise Shinkle, and Sonja Heath; and one grandchild.
Services will be 1 p.m. tomorrow, July 27, at Clark Chapel in Granby with John Henry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dice Cemetery in Fairview under the direction of Clark Funeral Home of Granby,
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today, July 26, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Barry County or Newton County chapters of American Cancer Society.
