John Henry Schickel
John Henry Schickel, 72, of East Petersburg, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at his residence after a lengthy illness.
Born in Lancaster, Pa., he was the husband of Jean Schickel and the son of the late George and Mary Harmess Schickel.
John worked for Burnham Boiler as a shear operator, retiring in 1996 after 24 years of service. John served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corp during the occupation of Germany. He was awarded the Army Occupation Medal and the National Service Medal during his time in the armed forces.
John was a member of the Silver Springs Baptist Church and Union President of the Sheet Metal Workers, Lancaster Chapter. He enjoyed carpentry and loved his children and grandchildren. He will be remembered as a true family man.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's Life Celebration Funeral Service at the funeral home of Fred F. Groff, Inc., 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster, PA on Monday, November 27, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. James King Officiating. Interment at Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Military Honors rendered by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
