Sgt. Doyle's remains will be returned to his family for burial with full military honors.
Staff Sergeant Jimmie Doyle was one of eleven men on board a B-24J Liberator bomber that was shot down while on a bombing reconnaissance mission of enemy targets over the island Republic of Palau. Sgt. Doyle's body was escorted home to Lamesa from the Central Identification Lab in Hawaii by his grandson, U.S. Marine Captain Casey Doyle, an Iraq War veteran.
