Velwood Pflueger, II, of Saginaw, Michigan,
passed away Wednesday, February 17, 1999, at his home following a brief illness at age 87 years.
He was born October 5, 1911 in Saginaw and had been a resident of Shields since 1919. He graduated from Paines School in 1926 and then worked for the Saginaw Tile Company.
He served with the U.S. Army from 1941-1945 with Gen. Patton's 3rd Army. He was wounded on April 2, 1945 and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, the Silver Star and the Middle Eastern African Campaign Medal.
Following the war, he was employed by Koehler Brothers Steel until 1959, and then worked for the Swan Valley Schools until his retirement on June 30, 1973.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post #1566.
He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, Frank Pflueger, George Pflueger, Sandy Pflueger, Bill Pflueger and Jennie Mocney.
Surviving were many nieces, nephews and their families.
