My Grandpa Henry Hess Married my grandma Doris Bond Baker. They lived on a farm just north of Harwood Lake. Had many Thanksgiving Day family reunions at the farm. I spent many summers on the farm and loved enery day. Picked pickles, worked the garden and even spent most of a day on the windmill out of the reach of the BULL that gramps had just purchased. Needless to say, grandma made gramps get rid of the bull that night, you see she couldn't get out of the house to help me, the bull kept chasing her back into the house. Grandma didn't know how to load the shotgun or she would have shot that bull. I was only 5yrs old at the time.
He would take me fishing a lot while staying at the farm during the summer. One summer we were in town walking and he pointed to the ground and said "whats that". I looked and it was a $5.00 bill, he told me finders keepers and took me to the store and we brought my first fishing pole, I was so proud. Those truly were happy years.
