Orin Chester Crowl was born September 12, 1952 and passed away at Mercy Hospital in Redding, California of pneumonia on November 11, 2009. Orin was born in Ferndale, CA in the same house he still resides in. He played little league baseball for many years and bringing his team to championships in Fortuna. He graduated from Fortuna High School in 1971. Orin married Terry Ann and went to work at the mill for many years. Orin and Terry Ann had a son Christopher whom he loved very much.
Orin had many friends throughout his lifetime. Those who knew him always knew his door was open. His love for the S.F. 49ers was in his blood. Some Friends called him "Joe" because Joe Montana was someone he truly admired greatly. Being the sports fan he was, there was always something to do with sports on his TV, while he had a cool one in his hand. Orin enjoyed playing horseshoes on summer days with anyone and just kicking back.
He is survived by his son Christopher Crowl and special friend Lorrie Sauers and her sons Brandon, Ross, Travis, Jacob, Louis and especially Leo whom he took under his wing. His brothers and sisters, Edgar Crowl, Evelyn Lee Crowl, Douglas Crowl, Marjorie Wilson Crowl, Clifford Crowl, Lary Crowl, Wendall Crowl and Kathy Crowl and numerous nieces and nephews to many to mention also survive him. Orin is preceded in death by his parents Edgar and Mildred Crowl, Daniel Crowl, Thelma Crowl and Earl Crowl.
Casket bearers will be Chris Crowl, Edgar Crowl, Douglas Crowl, Clifford Crowl, Mac Crowl, Rocky Crowl, Brandon Sauers and Ross Sauers. A visitation will be held at Goble's Fortuna Mortuary on Thursday, November 12, 2009 from 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. with a Graveside Service to follow at the Old Pioneer Cemetery on Kenmar Road and Church St. in Fortuna, with a potluck gathering to follow at Rohner Park, please call for more information 786-5210 if needed.
