Mrs. Louise W. Brimley, age 100, died Thursday, January 13, 2011 at River Landing at Sandy Ridge. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Sechrest Funeral Chapel with Mr. W. David McNeill officiating. Inurnment in the columbarium of First Presbyterian Church, High Point will be private. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 until 11 a.m. prior to the Service on Monday. Mrs. Brimley was born August 30, 1910 in Johnston County to the late Frank Stephen Wood and Fannie Ada Weeks Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Ralph Brimley and a daughter, Jean B. Newton. She is survived by her daughter, Ann B. McNeill of Wilkesboro; grandchildren, W. David McNeill and Rick McNeill, both of Wilkesboro, Mary N. Dean of Panama City, FL., John Newton of Orange Park, FL, Catherine Newton of Spanish Fort, AL, and Christine N. Sparkman of Snellville, GA. Also surviving are thirteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Mrs. Brimley was a loving daughter, wife and mother throughout her life. Her family was a very important part of her life and together she and Dr. Brimley created a loving home environment for their children and their families. She supported Dr. Brimley throughout his career as an educator including his position as the Superintendent of the Forsyth County Schools and as a Professor at East Carolina University. During retirement they moved to the Presbyterian Home of High Point and she moved to River Landing at Sandy Ridge when it opened. The family would like to thank the staff and leadership of River Landing for the extraordinary personal care Mrs. Brimley received while a resident in their care. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the River Landing at Sandy Ridge Foundation, 1575 John Knox Drive, Colfax, NC 27235 or to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
