Birth: Nov. 26, 1875

Death: Oct. 8, 1943
The Dalles
Wasco County

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the Zell Funeral Home for Ferris Mayfield, be many years a well-known business man of the city, who dropped dead at the Union Pacific station Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Mayfield were on the eve of leaving for a visit with her son, Technical Sargent Stanley Mayfield at Fort Kearns, Utah, when he was stricken.

Mr. Mayfield had just returned the day before his death from a hunting trip of nine days in Eastern Oregon in company with Dr. B. A. Russell and four friends from Portland.

The Rev. E. Ernest Taylor, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal church, officiated at the services and pallbearers were Roland Lawrence, Dr. B. A. Russell, James Cherry, Phil Kaseberger, Fred Harris and Frank G. Dick. The body was then taken to Oregon City for graveside services and interment.

Mr. Mayfield was born at Oregon City November 26, 1877, the son of Willis G. and Mary Ellen Moore Mayfield. He married Isabell Gregory Mayfield in 1911. He had been a resident of The Dalles for the past 25 years and was owner of the Columbia Highway market on east Second street and the Mayfield slaughter house in --view addition. He was known to his associates as a man of strict integrity who kept his business committments at all time in spite of any personal sacrifices involved.

He is survived by his wife and son, and by four sisters, Mrs. Zura Robeson of Gladstone, Mrs. Zona North and Mrs. Anna Huntington of Portland, and Mrs. Mary Grossmiller of The Dalles, and by several nephews.
