The Rev. Louis V. Rogers, 53, of Barker Street, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died of a heart attack August 30, 1984 in Southeastern General Hospital, Lumberton, NC.
Rev. Rogers was a minister at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Lumberton for the past seven months. Before that, he was a pastor at churches in Mississippi, North Carolina and Delaware.
He was born and reared in Wilmington and lived on Shipley Road.
He served as pastor of St. Luke's Reformation Lutheran Church from June, 1957 to January, 1959, and as pastor of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Briggsville in 1962.
In 1963 he moved to Newark, where he served as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. He moved to Hickory, N.C., in 1964 to be chaplain at Lenoir-Rhyne College. He later moved to Columbus, Miss., and began a new congregation of Prince of Peace Church there.
He joined the American Scientific Affiliation in 1965.
He was a graduate of Gettysburg, Pa. College where he received his BA degree, and received his BD degree from Mount Airy Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia. He is survived by his wife, Lois J.; three sons, the Rev. Jeffrey S. Rogers of Prospect Hill, Gregory D. of Seven Pines, and Jonathan T. of Oxford, Miss.; his parents, Dr. Victor and Jennie Rogers of Wilmington; and a sister, Dr. Carol Ann Rogers, also of Wilmington.
Interment at Miller's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hickory.
