Victor C. Rogers was born at North Ogden, Utah, on Jane 29, 1901. Ha attended Ogden High School, then the University of Utah, when he received his BS in chemistry in 1924 and MS in chemistry in 1925. He then attended Princeton University when he received an MA degree in 1926 and his PhD in 1928.
He joined Jackson Laboratory in 1928 and was assigned to Azo Colors research. In 1930 he transferred to the Azo Area, first as an operating supervisor and then as a supervisor of control and develop¬ment. In May, 1942, he was named assistant chemical superintendent and in October 1944, was appointed superintendent of development.
In June, 1951, he transferred to Wilmington when he did economic and location studies for Orchem. Retuning to Chambers Works in February, 1954, he was assigned to the Plants Technical Section until June, 1956, when he was appointed special assistant to the Works Management, his assignment until his retirement.
He and his wife Jennie lived in Wilmington until their deaths - he was preced in death by a son, Louis. Dr. Rogers was a trustee of the Southern New Jersey Development Council, a member and past president of the Wilmington Society for the Advancement of Management, a member of the General Advisory Committee of the Salem County Vocational Technical Institute, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Deepwater Industrial Federal Credit Union.
Vic was a man of great kindness and a superb gardener. With a chemist's precision, he kept diaries of everything he planted and everything he did to care for his plants, resulting in a backyard cornucopia of fruits and flowers. He is deeply missed.
