"GRANDMA" CLAYTON CALLED TO HER REWARD
Elizabeth Maxedon Clayton, wife of Elbridge W. Clayton, passed away at her home Sept. 8, 1933 at the age of 77 years and 12 days. At an early age she united with the Primitive Baptist church and has since held that faith.
Elizabeth Maxedon was born near New Albany, Indiana, Aug. 27, 1856; the second child in a family of eleven born to Joseph and Clara Maxedon. At the age of 16 she moved with her parents to Adams county, Iowa.
She was married to Elbridge W. Clayton in 1878 and lived in Adair county for 33 years. They came to Denton, Montana in 1915 where they since have made their home.
Three children were born to this union, a daughter, who died in infancy; a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Mason, and a son Wesley. She is survived by her husband, one daughter, one son, five grandchildren, six brothers and one sister.
The funeral was held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church, the Rev. Geo. W. Ayres officiating, and interment was made in Hillcrest cemetery. (The Denton Recorder, Fergus County, Montana, Thursday, September 14, 1933
