Daughter of Henry H. Miller & Mary Jane Dunn

Friday night will long be remembered by Mr. Dave Barton and Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Graber.

Around midnight, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Coons were awakened when Mr. Graber called them to come to the Barton home. On arriving, about the same time as the doctor and found Mrs. Barton had passed away and pronounced dead by the doctor.

Mrs. Walter H. Graber, her daughter who had been spending the night with her folks, was unconscious, as was Mr. Dave Barton.

It was thought at first Mr. Barton had suffered a stroke. He and Mrs. Graber were sent in the ambulance to the Kingman Memorial hospital. Mr. Barton soon recovered and showed no signs of having had a stroke. Mrs. Graber, however, did not regain consciousness until the next day.

While it was thought at first Mr. Barton had suffered a stroke, with the recovery of both he and Mrs. Graber, it was suspected that gas was the cause of the unconsciousness and sickness.

It was reported Wednesday that an inspection has been made by the gas company and the house has been condemned until repaired.

Mrs. Jessie Emma Barton, 73, resident of Pretty Prairie for fifty years, died in her home late Friday night. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church. She was born July 15, 1886.

Lewis of Leoti; three brothers, Jim Miller of Spillman, Texas and Harry and Frank Miller of Jetmore; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
