COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY 05/03/2011.
PENNINGTON, ALLAN, 90, of Louisville, died on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at Baptist Hospital East. Born in Louisville, he was a navy veteran of World War II, and a retired principal at Cane Run and Hartstern Elementary Schools. He was a graduate of EKU and the University of Louisville and a member of the St. James United Church of Christ. He was survived by his wife, Emma Underwood Pennington; his daughter, Diana Cotton; sisters, Violet House and Lillian Blaylock; sister-in-law, Emma Lee Pennington; many nieces and nephews; and four wonderful friends, Alice Redmon, Herman Wyssbrod, and Shirley and Charles Pettit. His funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at Highlands. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Dare to Care or St. Pius X Building Fund.
