SWEARINGER, Ronald E. Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge, Swearinger worked on a number of notable cases during his career. One was when actress Stephanie Powers was against giving $80,000 from the estate of William Holden to the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, that was specified in
his will. Another case was the bitter custody battle over the son of singer Rick Nelson, when his mother and her brother actor Mark Harmon, were fighting over who would take custody of the boy. Another notable case was when the court awarded $30 million to a member of the Church of Scientology who said the organization drove him to the brink of insanity and ruined him financially. Judge Swearinger announced the 12-0 verdict in favor of the man, much to the horror of a packed room of Scientologists.
