Cathy was a former co-worker of mine. I remember when I first met her she thought she couldn't have children, and what joy when she had her first child, Nicholas, and then another, Hannah. Sometimes life is so unfair. Cathy was a wonderful person who will never be forgotten.

Thank you Lori for setting up Cathy's memorial.. Forever grateful! My sister was a very happy and loving person. She had severe scoliosis of the spine that she was diagnosed with at the start of her High School years. She had to wear a body brace from her neck down to her hips for 5 years. I remember having to help her with her excercises daily. She was never self conscious and always had a good attitude about it. Her back straightened out but the doctor said her back would be on the weaker side and even back then she was told that having children may not be an option.
After she got married they tried to have a baby. She went through surgeries, shots, and different therapies and 10 years later they were blessed with Nicholas. 3 years after that they were blessed with Hannah! She was the most amazing mom and lived day to day for her kids. She was never thinking of herself and always was involved in making sure the kids had every opportunity to learn. She even home schooled them when they moved to Michigan.

She was always a religious and faith filled person, but truly got into her faith when she moved to Michigan through her bible friends there.
She was almost fervent in her faith during the last year of her life. Perhaps some force was moving her along to get things done fast.

But I digress---she was a very cool sister to me in my teenage years. She took me to my first bar when I was 16 years old and took me to my first rock concert. She covered for me when I came home tipsy a few times by not telling Dad--he would have gone through the roof!
Sure-- we had fights when we were growing up and didn't see eye to eye on everything....but for some strange reason, all I remember of Cathy now are the wonderful and happy times...as it should be.
She was my mentor, my friend, my big sissie..and I love and miss her every single day.
It tears me up inside when I think of how we lost my precious sister. I wish I could hug her and tell her I love her. She died at the hospital before we could get there.

She is Gone,( by Anonymous)

You can shed a tear that she is gone
or you can smile because she lived.

You can close your eyes and pray she'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all she's left.

Your heart can be empty because you can't see her
or you can be full of the love you shared.

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.

You can remember her and only that she's gone
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.

You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back
or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

We have reason to be sorrowful. One who gave meaning to our lives is gone. It is natural for us to grieve. Still, there is another truth that we dare not forget. The one we love is Home. That is not just a hope for us to carry, it's a promise for us to accept – a promise that reaches out to us across all the centuries. A promise from the Lord, Himself. May we all find our own sense of peace with this promise, this grand assurance, that there is no death, and that our separation at this time is only temporary.
