Richard Oscar Clawes 67, or Richard R. O. Clawes was the son of;
August Clawes 77, (1855-1933)
Anna A. Thiele Clawes 62, (1856-1919).
When just about 5 years old they all immigrated to the US in 1882 and settled in Chicago never to leave.
His older brother;
Hugo Theodore Clawes 70, (1876-1946).
Richard would die just 18 days after his brother Hugo Clawes.
He was the happy husband of;
Betty "Bessie" Danielson Clawes 48, (1876-1926). She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, and immigrated to the US, settling in Chicago where they met and married and lived their whole lives there.
He and Bessie were parents of;
Roy Alexander Clawes 58, (1900-1959)
Russell R. Clawes 56, (1905-1961)
Anna Clawes 4 months, (1898-1899), died a baby
Richard became a US citizen in 1912. His family was close and they all lived together on North Rockwell Street where he operated a deli on the first floor and lived on the second in seperate living quarters along side his sons families. He also worked at Montgomery Wards for over 36 years as an "Estimator" or Book=keeper. His wife of 26 years died when just 47 of breast cancer December 1926 leaving him widowed.

Charlotte Clawes Ritz 54,(1930-1985), and son Leslie Clawes 33,(1936-1969)
All lived there with him keeping him happy and were all very close. The kids lovingly called him "Gros-Pa" a German name for grandfather since he was German. His wife Bessie was from Denmark. He lived to be 67 years old when he died on 10 September 1946, just a days shy of 68, and few months shy of 20 years after his wife Bessie and just 18 days after his brother Hugo who died 23 August 1946. He never remarried and is buried along side wife Anna and her and his parents in Forest Home Cemetery in Chicago Illinois.
