Mae H Nelson Clawes was the wife of Russell R. Clawes (1905-1961), married in Aug 1929.
She was mother of;
Charlotte (Charles) Ritz (1930-1985)
Leslie (Janice) Clawes (1936-1969)
Her family including children Charlotte and Leslie lived for many years in the same building on North Rockwell Street in Chicago with her husbands brother Roy Clawes, his wife Jessie Clawes, their children Betty Clawes King, Rich and Bobby Clawes along with Russell and Roys parents Richard O. Clawes who was called "Gros-Pa" by the children and Betty or "Bessie" Clawes. Mae's father was Nels Nelson and he was from Sweden. Her mother was Sadie Greene. Mae lived to be 89 years old. She was fun to chat with and liked to laugh a lot. She was always smiling and getting everyone to feel at home. She was a good old gal! She used to cook us creps when we visited. We called them "Swedish Pancakes" because of her heritage. We had never had them before and loved them, getting the recipe and cooking them every so often always thinking of her. I guess you could say she was like a swedish pancake, soft and filled with goodness. She always had a smile on her face when I saw her! Her grandchildren are Mark Ritz, Debbie Butz, Rich (Linda) Clawes.
