Margareth Kuhnle is believed to be the daughter of Joh. Georg Kuhnle and Christine Magdelene KEIMLE. Margareth was born 03 Apr 1834 and christened 06 Apr 1836 in Beihingen am Neckar, Württemberg, in present-day Germany.
She ventured off to America from her native country of Germany, in 1852, when she was just 18 years old. She soon settled in Buffalo, New York. While there she in 1854 met her future husband John Fauth also from Germany. He traveled to Texas and set up a wood working business in Gonzales and later, in 1858, came back to marry and bring her to their new home. They were married at Attica, Wyoming Co., New York. They soon set out to re-building the small town of Gonzales, Texas. It had been destroyed by the towns people years earlier so the Mexican Army could not take it from them. It had been the site of the first skirmish of the Texas Revolution in 1831. In less than ten years from the time they arrived there the town grew by more than five times to 1500 people.
John had previously set up a wood working shop there due to the fact that he heard there had been a small thriving community of German and other European settlers there, making it a friendly place to live yet still adventurous and holding promise for all kinds of posibilities for his many talents. They would live out their lives there in that dreamy town they had learned to love, together with their children. Their known children were named Christena, Eugene, Adolph, and Victoria Fauth.
Margareta died aged 90 years.
