James "Jim" Aurthur Looney, age 75, of Springfield, Mo., passed away Saturday, September 20, 2008, in St. John's Hospital. He was born February 20, 1933, in Dallas County, Mo., the son of Roy Looney and Ruby (Roberson) Looney. He was united in marriage to Wanda Lee Duff on May 30, 1952, and to this union three daughters were born. Jim served his country in the Korean War as a Corporal in the Army. He then worked at Hoffman Taff where he retired in 1974, and moved to Green River, Wyo., where he worked for Church and Dwight and retired in 1995. He and Wanda then moved back to Springfield, Mo. He was a member of Willard Community Christian Church. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Ruby Looney; a brother, Richard J. Looney; sisters-in-law, Peggy Lillard and Velma Looney; and brother-in-law, Don Duff. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Wanda Looney of the home; three daughters, Dani Gibson and her husband, Doni, Kathi Palinek and her husband, David, and Marci Rees, all of Wyoming; brother Edwin Looney; sister Pat Northcutt; two sisters-in-law, Mary F. Hunt and Ruby Walsworth; five grandchildren, Jeremy Gibson, Mariah Nix, Brandon Jackson, Jamie Gibson and Taylor Rees; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Vesco and Morgan Vessels; and several other family members, friends and a special four legged friend, "Sugar". The family would like to thank the awesome staff at St. John's Hospital, Dr. Paul Freiman, Dr. Clyde Redmond, and all the associates at Wal-Mart in Republic for their wonderful care and compassion. Also a special thank you to all our Christian brothers and sisters he met throughout his life. A very special thank you to Preacher Dakota Rush for being who you are. Funeral service will be in Walnut Lawn Funeral Home LTD. at 2 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2008. Interment will be in East Lawn Cemetery, Springfield, Mo.
