Lorenzo Babcock
Treasures of Pioneer History, Vol.4, p.480
Lorenzo Babcock, son of Dolphus and Jerusha Babcock, was born February 23, 1823 in New York State. He married Ann Marble when he was in his twenties. Lorenzo was at Winter Quarters when the call came for volunteers and he enlisted in Company "C." He contracted mountain fever on the march and was sent to Pueblo for the winter. After his arrival in the Valley, in late July with other Battalion members, he immediately made preparations to return to the States for his family.

After their arrival in Zion in 1848, Lorenzo settled his family near the Sevier River for a number of years. They then moved to Price, Carbon County, where his wife, Ann, passed away. When Lorenzo [p.481]reached the age of sixty he was granted a pension for services in the Battalion. He received $36.00 every three months. His first check was for $450.00 and he spent most of that prospecting northeast of Mona, Utah. He built a cabin on the side of the canyon and lived there for several years. Two of his sons lived with him part of the time. Mr. Babcock passed away March 16, 1903 at Mona, Utah and is buried in the Mona City Cemetery.óD. U. P. Files
