A native of Louisiana, he had lived in Vidor for forty six years.
Shelby retired from Shell Oil after thirty five years as a Operator. He was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Sandy Rostrom, Janice Rostrom, numerous honorary grandchildren. Shelby was predeceased by his wife Helen Rostrom, parents Clifton and Cecelia Rostrom and one sister Ruth E. Walker.
