Donald Pederson was a State Trooper for Wisconsin State Police Department. He worked 6 years for the Police Force, dying in the line of duty at age 31. Trooper Pederson had been dispatched to an accident scene. Upon his arrival he found a vehicle in a ditch. As he approached the vehicle, a 16 year old boy was hiding near the front of it. The boy opened fire and fatally wounded Trooper Pederson, then fled on foot. He was later apprehended, tried as an adult and sentenced to life in Prison. It was determined Trooper Pederson had issued the youth a citation earlier in the day, so the boy decided to lay in wait and ambush him. Trooper Pederson was assigned to District # 3. Before becoming a State Trooper, he was a Police Officer in Rhinelander, Wisconsin.
