Former Valley Resident Dies
Harold Roy Harrison, 64, Los Angeles, a former Star Valley resident and school teacher, died last Friday afternoon in Los Angeles after an operation. Mr Harrison, brother of Ona A. Harrison, had been ill for about two years. He underwent the operation the day before he died, according to Lael Harrison, his nephew of Afton.
Born Dec 26, 1885 in Bountiful Utah, Mr Harrison was a son of Harold Henry and Clara Mould Harrison.
He received his early schooling in Bountiful and was graduated from Logan State Agricultural college, Logan, later serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the southern states.
Married in 1906
He married Sarah Beatrice Steele in Salt Lake L.D.S. temple Oct 3, 1906.
Mr Harrison taught school in Star Valley and in Idaho for many years. Later residing in Kemmerer, Wyo., he was Lincoln county clerk and recorder form 1911 to 1921 and during that time was bishop of Kemmerer L D S ward.
He resided in Salt Lake City from 1921 until he moved to Los Angeles in 1932 because of ill health. While a Salt Lake resident, he was employed by the old Utah Light and Traction Co.
While residing in Los Angeles, Mr Harrison devoted some of his time to writing prose and songs. He was bishop of Belvedere L D S ward in Los Angeles from 1935 to 1941.
Widow Survives
Surviving are his widow; three sons, Donald S. Harrison, Salt Lake City; Harold S. Harrison, Washington D.C., and Von S Harrison, Los Angeles; four daughters, Mrs Donna H. Heal, Murray, Mrs Ila H. Green, New York City, Mrs Letha H. Green, Arcadia, Cal., and Mrs Ruth Bell Banning Cal., three brothers, Ross Leo Harrison Salt Lake City, Ona Alvin Harrison, Vernal, Utah and Rex L. Harrison, Hollywood; four sisters, Mrs Vivian Osborne, Salt Lake City; Mrs Thora Hammond, Hollywood; Mrs LaRell Miles and Mrs Lola Harrison, Los Angeles, and 18 grandchildren.
