QUAKER CITY – Vivian Elaine Gregg Carpenter, 90, died Tuesday (February 23, 2010) at her home, with her family by her side. She was born March 6, 1919, daughter of the late Joseph and Laura (Oliver) Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Gregg, whom she married November 23, 1937; her second husband, Glenard "Tuck" Carpenter; and two brothers, Richard and Wayne Williams. She leaves four children, Dwain (Marilyn) Gregg, Delmar (Jane) Gregg, Nellie (Carl) McEndree, and Shirley (Steve) Harris, all of Quaker City; a sister Zona Virginia Elikan of Salesville; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Roger Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Quaker City.
