St. Louis Police Lt. Daniel H. Cregan died Wednesday (Sept. 18, 1991) of cancer at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.

Lt. Cregan , 46, had been the police department's personnel director since 1987. He served in the department's legal adviser's office from 1980-85 after getting his law degree from St. Louis University.

Lt. Cregan earned a master's degree in arts and human resources from Webster University in 1987 and a master's degree in business administration from Lindenwood College in 1988. He got his bachelor's degree from Maryville College in 1975.

He attended the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Va., in 1982, and was promoted to lieutenant in 1987.

He was in the first class of the Cadet Program in 1963.

Lt. Cregan is survived by his wife, Donna, three stepdaughters, and a brother, John M. Cregan , all of St. Louis.
