Police Chief Larry Neal "Red" Blagg was born on Sunday, March 30, 1969, son of Luther Neal and Brenda Gail Halfacre Blagg. Blagg died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 from injuries received during the ice storm in Trumann, at the age of 39 years 9 months and 28 days.
Born in Rochelle, Ill., he had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann. He was the police chief for the City of Trumann, a member of the Arkansas Chiefs of Police Association, National Association of the Chiefs of Police, the Trumann Marketing Committee, the Kingsmen Fellowship, the Men of Mercy (emergency response team) and the Healing Hands Community Church.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Thomas Boyd Griffin; grandparents, Tim and Mable Halfacre, and Roslee and Leo Blagg.
Survivors include his wife, Tammy Griffin Blagg of the home; one son, Cody Neal Blagg of Trumann; his parents, Luther and Brenda Halfacre Blagg of Trumann; two sisters, Debra Liles and Sheri L. Jones, both of Trumann; and two brothers, Michael Blagg and Randy Blagg, both of Trumann.
Funeral services were held January 31 in the First Baptist Church at Trumann with the Revs. Ronnie Dye and Anthony Patterson officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.
Active pallbearers were Tim Moody, Winred Saffell, Chad Furnish, Scotty Jones, David Shuburte, Glenn Smith, Darrell Constant and Mark Constant.
