Ochs, Lt. Colonel Edward Joseph Jr. Passed away peacefully on January 10, 2009 in Ogden, UT. He as born in Albert Lea, MN on August 8, 1921 to Edward J. and Luella Lippert Ochs. He attended Owatonna High School, Pillsbury Military Academy, SMU and USC and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Ed married Martha Maclay on February 27, 1945. They had two children. He had a distinguished 29 year career with the U.S. Air Force and retired as a Lt. Colonel. During WWII he served in both the European and Pacific theaters. He earned the Distinguished Flying Medal and the Air Medal with 6 oak leaf clusters. He was stationed throughout the U.S. and abroad and retired in 1970. returning to Dallas where he served as the manager of the Government Printing Office for 11 years. He was a member of East Dallas Lodge No. 1200, Plano Lodge No. 768, Knox Corinthian Lodge No. 841, Will Rogers Lodge #53, Eagle Lodge No. 41 and the Dallas Scottish Rite Bodies of Free and Accepted Masons. He was also associated with the BPOE Lodge #1395. Ed was an avid outdoorsman. He was known for throwing the largest parties, with the most friends and the best margaritas in Texas! He perfected his talent for making margaritas through extensive research and testing with his son. Ed is survived by his wife Martha; his sisters Zenola Beardslee of Mexico, NY and Shirley (Paul) Grass of Owatonna, MN; his daughter Karen (Paul) Skeen of Ogden, UT and son Greg (Sue) Ochs of Ajijic, Mexico; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Ogden by Unity Lodge No. 18 Free and Accepted Masons of Utah on January 19, 2009 at 11:00 am. Ed will receive full military honors at the Utah Veterans Cemetary at Camp Williams following the funeral services. Send e-mail condolences to the family at
