Richard Lester McCumber, 77, of Dora died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at V.A. Medical Center in Birmingham.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at New Horizon Memorial Chapel with burial at New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jack Thorn will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight, July 14, 2003, at the funeral home. New Horizon Memorial is directing.
McCumber was a bridge builder for Bristol Steel. He attended Sumiton First Assembly of God and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the East Walker Lions Club and the Sumiton Temple Lodge No. 892 F&AM.
He is survived by his wife, Louise McCumber of Dora; daughters, Ella Nix Callahan of Dora and Jovanna Smith of Jasper; sons, Roger Lee McCumber of Sumiton, Richard L. McCumber II of Dora, Roscoe Lamar McCumber of Jasper and Ronald Lynn McCumber of Double Springs; and grandchildren, James Nix Jr., Rena Nix, Jimmy Richardson and Betty Sue Robinson.
