John M Musselman, one of Fairfield's oldest and most prominent residents, was fatally injured at 6:00, Thursday evening, when he was struck by an automobile while crossing the street in front of his home.
…He was aged 81 years, having been born June 21, 1848, a son of the late Joseph and Hetty Musselman, of near Fairfield.
…Mr. Musselman was in the general merchandise business in Fairfield for 63 years. Several years ago,
he relinquished his interest in the store to his son, William L Musselman, with whom he resided.
He was a member of the Fairfield school board for many years, and out of respect to his memory, the Fairfield high school seniors have postponed their class play from tomorrow evening until November 9.
He was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran church, Fairfield, and was a charter member of Valley Home lodge, 740, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Fairfield.
Surviving are five sons, the Rev. J Harry Musselman, Lancaster; Dr. J Ellis Musselman, a dentist,
Springs Avenue; John O Musselman, near Fairfield, and F Preston Musselman and
William L Musselman, both of Fairfield, and one daughter, Mrs. Charles A Landis, Fairfield.
Two brothers, Joseph Musselman, Fairfield, and Grant Musselman, Rochelle, Illinois, and one sister,
Mrs. Susan Creager, Gettysburg also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
