Matilda McCrory was born about 1826 in New York. Her parents were William G. McCrory and Esther Ormsbee. She died 7 May 1872 in Wright County, Minnesota. She married William Lawrence Dygert about 1848-1849 in New York. Matilda and her husband were among the earliest pioneers in Wright County. They came to Minnesota from New York prior to 1860 to join other members of her family who had preceeded them to Wright County, including her father, her brother Herbert McCrory, and sister Elizabeth McCrory (who married Frederick M. Cadwell in what may have been the first marriage ceremony in what would become Wright County).
