A. Jean Leonard, 86, of Gibson City, formerly of Bellflower, died at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 2, 2005) at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City.
Mrs. Leonard was born Sept. 24, 1918 at Clinton, a daughter of John Aaron and Annie Laurie Rainey Parker. She married Gene Leonard on July 9, 1941 in Clinton. He died March 26, 2000.
She is survived by one son, John (Mary Ellen) Leonard; two daughters, Sally (Martin) Toohill and Susan Stype; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Floy Maxwell and Winifred Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson and one sister.
After her marriage to Gene Leonard, they moved to Niantic and then to Bearsdale, farming there for six years. In March of 1949, they moved to Bellflower, where she and Gene farmed for 40 years.
Jean was a member of the Bellflower United Methodist Church for more than 56 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, a former member of the Bellflower Mid-Century Club, Needlecraft Club and the Senior Citizens Club of Bellflower. She was a member of the Gibson City Senior Citizens Club and also belonged to the Memories and Reminiscence Group of Gibson City.
