Norman Thomas Harper, Jr was the son of Norman Thomas Harper, Sr and his wife, Edith Gertrude Dough. He was the grandson of John Marshall Dough and his wife, Hilda Vane Bruce.

HARPER JR.; Date: December 6, 1990 Norman Thomas Harper Jr., 47, of the 1100 block of First Colonial Road, a clerk, died Dec. 4, 1990, in Norfolk. Mr. Harper, a native of Norfolk, had been employed with Peoples Drug Store, Princess Anne Plaza, for 25 years. He was a Protestant. Survivors include his mother, Edith D. Thompson of Newport News, and a sister, Hilda E. Harper of Virginia Beach. The graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Bruce Whitehurst family cemetery in Creeds by the Rev. Clinnie Biggs Sr. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. "
