Krystyna Green, 60, of Rochester, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008.
Mrs. Green retired as a teacher from Southfield Public Schools. Her family described her as a devoted and gifted educator who was loved and respected by her students and colleagues. After retiring, she continued to teach at her children's schools.
She was an avid supporter of her Polish heritage and was involved with the Mala Polska Dance Ensemble for children. She loved being with her children, nieces and nephews' numerous activities including swimming, skiing, dancing, hockey, Boy Scouts and school functions.
She also was a world traveler who enjoyed traveling with her family and many friends, making each trip memorable.
Mrs. Green served as a volunteer with Capuchin Soup Kitchen, Notre Dame Preparatory, and St. John Lutheran School. At home she enjoyed her numerous gardens and excelled at being social secretary for Goodison Hills Subdivision.
Her family said she had a special place in her heart for those in need and helped others even during her illness. Her faith was important to her and she lovingly shared that grace with family and friends, relatives said.
Family members said she was extremely proud of her children.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Alina and Gregory; siblings, Richard Skuratowicz and Regina Wolicki; and many nieces and nephews, including Andrew, Stephanie, Alex and Mary.
She was predeceased by her brother, Leon Skuratowicz.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 1400 Inglewood, Rochester. Interment will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Visitation is 4-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-9 p.m. Sunday, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 E. 15 Mile (at Schoenherr), Sterling Heights.
Additional visitation is 12:30-1 p.m. Monday at the church.
