Tim grew up in Gardnerville, Nevada, and was a 1998 graduate of Douglas County Nevada High School. He joined the United States Army in 1998 and had served two tours of duty in Iraq. Tim met his wife, Randi Blanchard Miller, while they were both stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and they served in Korea together. They had been married for 5 years and they had a daughter in August 2007. Tim was currently stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and worked as a medic at Madigan Army Medical Center. He was planning on leaving the military in August 2008 and was making plans to join the Nevada Highway Patrol. He was posthumously promoted to staff sergeant. Tim and Randi were homicide victims. He was survived in death by the following individuals: Daughter Kassidy Miller, His Immediate family, Mother Tamara Gray (Miller), Stepdad Randy Gray, Sister and Brother, Savannah and Daniel Gray all of Gardnerville NV. Father Aaron Taflinger, Stepmother Velera Taflinger, sisters, Mikayla and Rosalie Taflinger all of Vancouver WA. Brother and sister-in-law: Greg and Gabrielle Taflinger of Reno NV. As well as numerous loving aunts, uncles and cousins. He was proceeded in death by: Grandmother Lynnell Zumwalt (Miller) & Grandfather Delbert Zumwalt, both of Topaz NV. Grandfather Richard Taflinger of Gardnerville NV and Grandmother Rosalie Evans of Elko NV.
