Raymond served as a Private First Class, 2nd Ranger Battalion, U.S. Army during World War II.

He enlisted in the Army on December 15, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed in a machine shop and also as Single, without dependents.

Raymond was "Killed In Action" in France on D-Day during the war and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Raymond is interred in the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial in Normandy, France.
