Harl, Edward. Age 20. Residence Council Bluffs,Iowa nativity Ohio. Enlisted Aug. 2, 1862 into Co A 29th Iowa Infantry.
Mustered Nov. 7, 1862 Camp Dodge, Council Bluffs,Iowa.
Killed in action July 4, 1863, Battle of Helena, Ark.
Union defenses were attacked by approx. 10,000 confederates however at the end of the day the union still held the ground.
Based on others who died at Helena, originally buried Helena, then exhumed and moved to Memphis Nat Cemetery in 1867. Most marked as unknown.
