Jefferson Monroe Fulcher was the son of Richard Fulcher and Elizabeth Younger, both born in Virginia.

Jefferson Fulcher, was a native of Virginia and a soldier in the War of 1812, having fought in the battle of Tamer. He was an early pioneer of Madison County, Ky., and settled in Boone County, Mo., in an early day, while the present State was yet a territory. For some years he engaged in traffic with the Indians and made several trips each year to Santa Fe. In 1836, he settled in what is now Schuyler County, Mo., where he died in 1859.

Jefferson Monroe Fulcher married Rachel Ann Stevenson June 16, 1816 in Missouri, the daughter of Marcus Stevenson, born in West Virginia and Sarah Meek, born in Pennsylvania.

They had these children: Richard Wallace, John S, Sarah Ann, Silas Redman, Elizabeth Jane, Susan N, and Martha Still.

The 1830 Perche, Boone County, Missouri census registers Jefferson Fulcher. his wife and six children and two slaves. Two land patent records are found in his name in Boone County dated 1824 and 1825.

The 1840 Goshen, Macon County, Missouri census registers Jefferson Fulcher, his wife and six children and two slaves.

The 1850 Schuyler County, Missouri slave schedule indicates one female and four children on the record of Jefferson Fulcher. Amanda Fulcher, 34, and her four children, Benjamin 7, Sara 5, Taylor 2 and George 6 months, are found living with the family in the above 1850 census.
Amanda died in 1884 and is buried in the Bethel Cemetery.

Three sons, Richard Wallace Fulcher, John S Fulcher and Silas Redmon Fulcher are all registered in the 1850 Schuyler County, Missouri census.

During the time period of 1848 through 1859 Jefferson Fulcher had held thirty-seven land grants in Schuyler County, Missouri. Most lying in the area of 65N Range 15 and 16. These lands consisted of several hundred acres and are situated in Prairie Township.

Rachel Fulcher 65, born Kentucky in the household of her daughter Martha Radcliff, age 21, born Missouri; her husband Nehemiah Radcliff 33, born Maryland; and their daughter Margaret 1, born Missouri.

Also in the household are: Nancy Fulcher 15, born Missouri and Nevada Fulcher 6, born Missouri, daughters of John S and Mary Alverson Fulcher.
