Carl Edgar Baker, 65, of 213 Gin Road, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Husband of Martha Ann Smith Baker, he was born in Greenville, a son of the late Carl McWhite and Eula Mae James Baker.

Mr. Baker was a retired salesman of Hansen Brick Manufacturing. He was a member of the High Country Sam's Camping Club, Greenville; he was a member of the first graduating class of Carolina High School, Class of 1957, where he played in the band; and he was a member of Welcome Baptist Church for 65 years, where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir and taught Sunday school.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Lynn Baker of Greenville; two sons, Jimmy Baker of Piedmont and Danny Baker of Greer; a grandchild, Joey Baker of Greenville; and a sister, Elizabeth Lochner of Greenville. He was predeceased by a sister, Frances Rogers.

Visitation will be tonight at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest from 7 to 8:30. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West.

Family members are at the residence. Memorials may be made to Welcome Baptist Church, c/o Sound System, 2730 Anderson Road, Greenville, SC 29611.
