Arnold J. Jewell, 92, of Beckley, formerly of Parkersburg, passed away Friday, February 1, 2008, at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
He was born January 31, 1916, in New Haven, W.Va., a son of the late Homer and Vena Hoffman Jewell.
Mr. Jewell retired from the O'Ames Company in 1979 after 42 years of service. He was an avid baseball fan and previously played for the Ames Baldwin Wyoming Co. Team. He was also a WWII army veteran, having served in Germany and France.
He is survived by one daughter, Carolyn and husband, Dexter Jones, of Daniels, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Leigh Ann Zitzelsberger and husband, Paul Richard; and one grandson, Paul Ryan of South Charleston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Tingler Jewell, in 1971; and one brother in 1918.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with Jim Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen North Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
