Lou was baptized and joined 1st Baptist Church of Sedalia on April 21, 1929. Lou married Peter V. Scotten in 1923 and together they operated Scotten's Book store for 44 years. She authored a book about her first 14 years, entitled "Maybe Tomorrow." P.V. and Lou had two daughters--Betty Bob and Mary Jane.
