Laura married William John Ernest Ficken (1907-1993), on October 22, 1928 in Sedalia, Missouri. "Bill" & Laura lived south of Smithton on a farm.
Mrs. Ficken was a member of the Smithton United Methodist Church and the Otterville Order of Eastern Star No. 331.

Her mother, Mary E. Nichols of the Campbell Hawthorne House in Pettis County, Missouri.
Her 3 sisters: Mary Baldwin and Rhoda Watson of Sedalia and Pauline Dickson of Smithton.
One brother: Elihu Nichols of Independence, Missouri.
Funeral Services were held at the Heckart-Gillespie Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on April 13, 1974 with the Rev. Jerry Moon, Pastor of Smithton United Methodist Church, officiating. Pallbearers were Raymond Barklage, Henry Lamm, Floyd Dickson, Fred Martin, Dick Klein, Gene Smith.
