Edna Fay Weems of Borger, Texas formerly of Elmore City entered this life on August 2, 1914 born to George and Maudie McClain Guthrie in Lela Lake, Texas and departed this life on Thursday, October 16, 1997 at the age of 83 years.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 1997 at 4 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Elmore City with the Rev. Paul Hamilton, officiating.
Interment will be in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home of Elmore City, Okla.
Edna grew up in Texas and Oklahoma. She met and married W.E. "Dub" Weems. The couple moved to Elmore City in 1958. The highlight of Edna's life was her family. Edna is remembered by her family as being a most gentle and gracious person. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Elmore City where she was very active in the women's group as well as teaching Sunday School classes at times. She enjoyed cooking and sewing and was a member of the Eola Home Demonstration Club. She and Dub had enjoyed traveling with their travel trailer and going to the lake.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, her mother passed away when Edna was ten years of age. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dub in 1990 and her only child, Doretha Faye Wiley in 1991.
Edna is survived by one sister, Hattie Baker of Dearborn, Mich.; a son-in-law, James Wiley of Borger; four grandchildren, Vicky Martin, Julie Ellis, Gayla Pyron and Jamie Carroll.
